Brazilian / festa sweetBeijinho ('little kiss'), also called branquinho, is the coconut counterpart to brigadeiro and just as fixed a part of Brazilian birthday parties. It uses the same condensed-milk fudge technique, with coconut in place of cocoa and a clove pressed on top.

အဆင့်များ

  1. In a cold non-stick saucepan, stir together the condensed milk, 40g coconut and the butter before you turn on the heat.

  2. Cook over low-to-medium heat, stirring constantly and scraping the base, for about 10–12 minutes.

💡 Just like brigadeiro, condensed milk scorches in seconds if you stop stirring — a burnt base ruins the whole batch, and it shows badly on a pale coconut sweet.

  3. Stop when the fudge thickens and pulls away from the base as one soft mass when you tilt the pan.

💡 The pull-away stage is the cue. Cooked too long, beijinho sets hard and dry; stopped too soon, the balls slump and won't hold a round shape.

  4. Scrape onto a greased plate, spread a little, and cool to room temperature, then chill 20–30 minutes until firm.

  5. Put the extra coconut in a small bowl and lightly butter your palms.

  6. Roll teaspoon-size pieces into smooth 2.5cm balls between your palms.

  7. Roll each ball in the coconut until fully coated and set in a small paper cup.

  8. Press a single whole clove into the top of each as its traditional crown.

  9. Serve at room temperature, beside a plate of chocolate brigadeiros for the full festa look.

💡 အကြံပြုချက်များ

  • Beginner's mistake: over-reducing to be 'safe' — beijinho firms up much more as it cools, so a rock-hard pan means rock-hard candy. Stop at the soft pull-away stage.
  • Tell your guests to lift the clove out before biting — it is decoration, not to be eaten whole.
  • For a party platter, roll the beijinho in coconut and the brigadeiro in chocolate sprinkles from the same base technique — one pan of fudge each, side by side.
